Restaurant Sales Reports Without the Spreadsheet

Revenue, orders, average order value and what sold — by day and by hour, against the period before — straight from the orders your till and QR menu take. And when the accountant asks, six reports download as CSV, a daily VAT summary among them.

  • Four KPIs, each compared with the period before it
  • Busiest hours and best sellers, in your restaurant’s own timezone
  • Daily sales, item-wise and VAT reports as CSV for your accountant

The analytics screen and the top sellers, as they ship.

More than a till report

The numbers you check between rushes

Most restaurants read their sales off a printed till report at close, and rebuild anything else — busiest hour, best seller, last month — in a spreadsheet when someone asks.

A till report and a spreadsheet

  1. Print the Z-report
  2. Type it into Excel
  3. Build the chart yourself

One day at a time, with no comparison and no picture of the hours. By the time the month is in a spreadsheet, it is the following month and nobody remembers why Tuesday was slow.

Tahlib Analytics

  1. Every order recorded
  2. Pick a range
  3. KPIs vs previous
  4. Busiest hours
  5. Top sellers
  6. Download CSV

The orders are already in Tahlib, so the reporting is too. Choose today, the last week or the last year and the figures, the comparison and the chart are ready — refreshed within about a minute of the latest order.

You still decide what to do about a slow Tuesday. You stop having to build the chart that shows it.

How it works

From the orders you take to the report you send

Nothing to set up. If you take orders in Tahlib, the reporting already exists.

  1. Take orders as normal

Every order from the till and the QR menu is recorded with its time, items, discounts and VAT.

  2. Glance at today

The dashboard home shows today against yesterday — revenue, orders, items sold, average order — with the top five items and the peak hours of the last week.

  3. Pick a range

Today, 7, 30 or 90 days, a year, or your own dates. Every KPI is compared with the period of the same length before it.

  4. Read the shape of the day

Revenue over time switches between hourly, daily and weekly by itself, and orders by hour shows the rush in your restaurant’s local time.

  5. See what sells

Top items by revenue, with units sold and the average price each one actually went for.

  6. Download for the accountant

Daily sales, item-wise, VAT, tip-outs, voided orders and staff shifts — month to date, last month, quarter or year to date, or your own dates — as CSV.

CSV files carry a UTF-8 marker, so Arabic item names open correctly in Excel.

At a glance

Where the day actually goes

Orders by hour, from the same screen. Two rushes, a quiet afternoon, and the hour that pays for the rest.

What you get

Reporting that comes with the orders

Grouped by the question each part answers.

How are we doing?

Four KPIs, always against the period before.

  • Revenue, orders, average order value and repeat rate
  • Each compared with the previous period of the same length
  • Ranges: today, 7, 30 and 90 days, a year, or custom dates
  • Revenue includes VAT and is after discounts; voided orders are left out

When are we busy?

The shape of the day and the week.

  • Revenue over time, hourly for short ranges, daily or weekly for longer ones
  • Orders by hour across all 24 hours
  • Days and hours worked out in your restaurant’s timezone
  • Peak hours of the last seven days on the dashboard home

What sells?

The dishes carrying the business.

  • Top ten items by revenue, with units sold and average unit price
  • Top five items today on the dashboard home
  • An item-wise report with category and each item’s share of revenue

Who comes back?

Without switching on a CRM.

  • Repeat rate: guests identified by phone who also ordered in the previous year
  • Worked out from the orders themselves — no separate customer setup

What does the accountant need?

Six reports, each a CSV.

  • Daily sales: orders, gross, discounts, net, VAT, total and cash/card settled per day
  • VAT: taxable amount, rate, VAT and gross per day
  • Item-wise: units and revenue per item, by category
  • Voided orders with the reason and the amount
  • Tip-outs and staff shifts, when Workforce is switched on
CSV reports

Six reports your accountant will actually open

Analytics is for you. Reports are for whoever does the books — plain CSV files, one row per day or per item, that open in Excel or import into accounting software.

Daily sales

One row per day: orders, gross, discounts, net, VAT, total, and how much was settled in cash and by card.

A VAT summary that matches your invoices

Taxable amount, rate, VAT and gross for each day — built to agree with the VAT on the invoices Tahlib issued, so it supports your FTA filing rather than contradicting it.

Voids with reasons

Every voided order with when it was voided, the reason given, the lines on it and the amount — the report that answers “why is Tuesday short?”.

Ranges accountants think in

Month to date, last month, quarter to date, last quarter, year to date, the last 30 or 90 days, or exact dates.

Where it fits

What it changes, by type of restaurant

Same reports, different reason to open them.

Cafés
Orders by hour shows whether the 7am rush or the 4pm lull deserves the extra barista, and top items says which pastry to bake more of.
Casual dining
Average order value against last month tells you whether the new starters are adding to the bill or just replacing mains.
Quick service
A short menu sold at volume — top items and hourly orders are the whole planning conversation.
Owners with an accountant
Daily sales, VAT and voids as CSV at the end of each month, instead of a box of till rolls.
New restaurants
Repeat rate from day one: the share of guests who came back, worked out from phone numbers already on the orders.
Built here

The details that matter for a UAE restaurant

Written around how restaurants here report.

A VAT summary for the FTA

Taxable amount, 5% VAT and gross per day, built to agree with your issued invoices — the starting point for your VAT return, not the return itself.

Arabic names that survive Excel

CSV files carry a UTF-8 marker, so Arabic item names open in Excel as Arabic rather than question marks.

Your timezone, your hours

Hours and days are worked out in the restaurant’s timezone, so the dinner rush shows at 8pm Dubai time.

Weekends and Ramadan in context

Every range is compared with the one before it, so a Ramadan week is read against the week before rather than a number from memory.

Questions, answered

What owners ask about the numbers

Are analytics and reports free?

Yes. They are part of Tahlib Core, which is free for every branch, along with the menu, tables and QR codes. The reports fill once a product that takes orders, such as QR Ordering or POS, is on.

Are the figures live?

Close to it. The analytics screen refreshes within about a minute of the latest order, and the downloadable reports within about five minutes.

What counts as revenue?

The total of every order that has not been voided, including VAT and after discounts, on the day it was placed. Profit — after food, labour and expenses — is what Tahlib Intelligence adds.

Is the VAT report my VAT return?

No. It is a daily summary of taxable sales, VAT and gross, built to match the VAT on your issued invoices, which supports your FTA filing. It is not a completed VAT 201 return — input VAT and the other return boxes are for your accountant.

Can I export to PDF or Excel?

Reports download as CSV, which opens directly in Excel. PDF export is not available today.

Can reports be emailed to me automatically?

Not today. Reports are downloaded from the dashboard when you need them; scheduled email reports are not part of the product yet.

Can I see all my branches together?

Analytics shows one branch at a time. Comparing every branch side by side is what the Chain Dashboard does.

How is repeat rate worked out?

It is the share of guests in the period, identified by phone number, who had also ordered in the 365 days before. It comes from the orders themselves, so it works without switching on a CRM.

Why are the tip-outs and staff-shift reports empty?

Both are built from clocked hours, so they need Workforce. With Workforce switched on, they fill in for the dates you pick.

Does it work in Arabic?

The analytics and reports screens are in English today. Arabic item names appear in the reports and open correctly in Excel.
